Key Concepts

Understanding these core concepts will help you get the most out of Scorecard.biz.

Scorecards

A scorecard is a collection of related metrics organized into sections. Think of it as a dashboard for a specific area of your business.

Examples:

  • Sales Performance Scorecard
  • Financial Health Scorecard
  • Customer Service Scorecard

Metrics

A metric is a specific measurement you want to track over time. Each metric has:

  • Value: The actual number being tracked
  • Target: The goal you're trying to achieve
  • RAG Status: Visual indicator of performance (Red, Amber, Green)

RAG Status

RAG stands for Red, Amber, Green:

  • 🟢 Green: On target or exceeding expectations
  • 🟡 Amber: Close to target but needs attention
  • 🔴 Red: Off target and requires action

Sections

Sections help organize metrics within a scorecard. For example, a Sales Scorecard might have sections for:

  • Revenue Metrics
  • Pipeline Metrics
  • Activity Metrics

Periods

Periods represent the time intervals for your data (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.). Each metric value is associated with a specific period.

Contributors

Contributors are team members assigned to enter data for specific metrics. They receive reminders when data is due.

Calculated Metrics

Calculated metrics automatically compute their value from other metrics using formulas. For example:

  • Profit Margin = (Revenue - Costs) / Revenue × 100
