Metrics are the heart of Scorecard.biz. Here's how to create effective metrics.
Adding a Metric
Metric Configuration
Basic Information
- Name: Clear, specific name (e.g., "Monthly Recurring Revenue")
- Description: What this metric measures and why it matters
- Definition: Precise definition for consistency
Unit Type
Choose the appropriate unit:
- Number: Generic count or quantity
- Currency: Monetary values (uses org currency)
- Percentage: Values shown as percentages
- Hours/Days: Time-based metrics
- Ratio: Comparative values
- Custom: Define your own unit label
Precision
How many decimal places to display (0-4).
Metric Properties
Frequency
How often this metric is updated. Usually matches the scorecard, but can differ.
Source Type
- Manual: Data entered by users
- Calculated: Computed from other metrics
- Integrated: Pulled from external systems
Metrics Are Reusable
Metrics in Scorecard.biz can be attached to multiple scorecards:
- Create a metric once, use it in many scorecards
- Changes to the metric definition apply everywhere
- Data is shared across all attached scorecards
- View which scorecards use each metric in the Metrics page
Tips for Good Metrics
- Be specific – avoid vague names
- Include units in the description
- Document the data source
- Start with fewer metrics and add more as needed
